A mother shared a story with me once about a time when her preschool-age daughter was filled with so many questions (does that ever go away?) about Jesus, wondering where Jesus lived because she wanted to see him. Mom answered that “he lives in our hearts honey, we can’t see him.” Wasting no time her daughter responded, “but mom if Jesus is in our hearts where does all the blood go, we need blood?” Kids ask the best questions, don’t they?
Wouldn’t it be nice if everything in life were black and white, easy to see the difference or the right choice? But it is not that easy, life is so messy, confusing and full of grey areas. As Christians, we are called to be the light in those grey areas because Jesus is in us. When Jesus’ life is in us we begin to think like Jesus and love like him. The deepest part of us, our heart is changed, our very lives are changed.
The evidence that Jesus lives in your “heart” will be that you want to please Him in all that you think, say, and do. You will want to live as He lived and try to be more like Jesus every day. We don’t just need blood, we and this world need JESUS!
So get out there and live and love like Jesus did, it is limitless, and let your light shine!
